Upon college graduation, four friends, Jessie, Jamie, Jos and Katie, venture into the real world looking for happiness and success. We follow them through the torturous interview and audition process and watch as their dreams slowly fade and the reality of life after college begins to sink in. Six months later, the girls are in the same situation and have been forced to find other employment to sustain themselves. Katie, it seems, has been the only one able to find a job in her chosen field.

This myth is shattered, when Jessie pays Katie a visit at work, only to find that she isn't there and nobody in the office has ever heard of her. Katie reveals to Jessie that she was never able to find a job. She has just been pretending to be successful the last several months. In reality, she was as desolute as the other girls. The next day Katie is found dead in her bathroom having committed suicide the night before.

After Katie's funeral, Jessie is cleaning out Katie's apartment and finds a letter made out to her and a key. Jessie uses the key to unlock Katie's closet. As she walks in and turns on the light, she sees the closet is covered floor to ceiling in maps, floor plans, schedules, access codes and photographs.
